Dan McKenna. Why doesn't Notre Dame put effort into the second signing day when it comes to filling in the gaps of the class?

Because they'd rather use it for the portal. And look, here's the thing. If there's a guy out there that fills a need and is the caliber player they want, they'll go after them. And they spend time on that.

So I don't agree with the premise that they don't put effort into it. They they do just because there are no results from it doesn't mean that they didn't do their due diligence to see who's out there who hasn't signed who's left more often than not when they get the signing day they're done and they would rather okay let's because the other thing too is if you get on some kid now that you didn't recruit this entire process because he fits a need and he's got good film, you can't establish the kind of relationship to really get to know that kid and what kind of kid are you bringing into your program in a month and a half, two months. Just, hey, we'd rather just get a portal kid now. The portals change the game for Notre Dame because now just go get a portal kid that can be here for a year or two and then we'll get into 26. Now we've got the whole year to build the relationships and make sure that we're bringing in the right type of kid. Because if you look at some of the kids in Notre Dame was getting late in the recruiting process for a while there with the exception of years where it was a coaching change. So like you brought in you know, you know, Jeremiah Wusu Koroamoa, but like, look a lot of

the guys that they brought in on offense in 2017 late in the process.

Like Jeremiah Wusukoramoa panned out.

But think about some of the other guys that they lost, that they, that they landed, that just

ended up, you know, Jafar Armstrong, Jemir Smith, Sebo Flemister.

Those are all guys that Notre Dame went out and landed like real late in the process

because they had to fill some holes.

And those guys didn't pan out.

Those guys weren't the caliber player that you really needed.

So some of them panned out.

Jeremiah Wusukor Mola panned out.

That was a pretty good one.

But a lot of those other times when you're firing a coach and you're bringing in a new

coach and you got and get those guys late in the process,

Notre Dame doesn't have a great tracker.

Could of those late Sinez really panning out.

You know, some do, right?

Myron Tungvala Lamosa panned out. you know, some do, right?

Myron Tunga Volo and Mosa panned out. Kofi Wardlow didn't. Jafar Armstrong didn't. Jordan Jen Markeith didn't. You know, some of those guys just don't. And I think Notre Dame's had more of a track record of those guys not panning out that you went and got late than they do. So this staff would rather invest in, hey, let's,

and then in 18 was the Cbo Flemister and Jemir Smith and those kind of guys,
