After Notre Dame's 3532 win over Navy, I'm Pete Sampson here at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

Matt Fortuna is at home in Chicago.

Matt, that was in some ways a classic Navy game.

I feel like I've covered this game six times in the last 22 years where Notre Dame is blowing the doors off them.

And then Navy creeps back into the game.

It starts to get tight.

Then Notre Dame makes a big mistake.

Then it's really tight.

And you're sort of seeing the season flash before your eyes if you're Marcus Freeman.

I mean, I don't think it would be overstating matters to say like you would have undone virtually everything you did last week

if you had botched this in the second half.

And Notre Dame came an onside kickaway from blowing a game that would be sort of like a permanent record kind of thing.

Maybe probably worse than Stanford or Marshall, considering the fact that they were up

35 to 13 at the half.

They ran 20 offensive plays for two yards in the second half.

They had no real handle on Navy's

hodgepodge offense that went to a third string quarterback

after their starter, who was their backup, got hurt.

They were out without J.D. Bertrand,

without Brandon Joseph, without Tobias and Merriweather.

This game had everything, and many of those things you did not want to have.
