We're going to talk some defense.

And everything that we have heard so far this off season about the defense, it entered the spring a little bit of a question mark.

The talent was there.

We knew what type of level of talent this defense had, but we didn't know what was necessarily going to be done with that talent. Al Golden leaves. He's now the defensive coordinator for the Cincinnati

Bengals. Enter Chris Ash, who took over for Al Golden less than a week after his departure.

My confidence, and I don't want to speak for you, so I'll let you follow this up, but my confidence

as the offseason has grown or has progressed, has grown in Chris

Ash a little bit.

And that was kind of highlighted by his post-game, post-scrimmage press conference on Sunday

after the defense ended up winning their scrimmage by about four points.

He had probably my favorite quote of the day, Trev.

I'm going to try to find the Chris Ash quote.

Was it about?

They were asking about the temperature.

He had two things.

He's like, one was they asked him about, you know, the talent.

And he said, you know know to be honest with you

the only place that that would be comparable was when i went to ohio state in 2014 there were a lot

of really good players there very similar to the situation here people can say a lot of things

about me but i'm not dumb this is the part i loved people say a lot of things about me but i'm not

dumb if i was going to take this job it was because we have some pretty good players, and we do. And I just thought that was like a moment of honesty that I just loved. He's like, look, I'm in the NFL. I've been fired before, like almost every coach on the planet has, including Marcus Freeman, who got fired at Purdue. You know, like, look, if I'm going to get back into coaching in college, I'm going somewhere where I've got dudes. I'm not going to do it. I'm too old to do the rebuilding project. You know what I'm saying? Like, I'm walking in where there's some dudes. And I thought that was, you know, that comment was just, it struck me as like really funny.
