| 0:00.0 | All right. All right. Let's get into our mailbag show today. And you guys have some good questions here. |
| 0:24.4 | But first, before we get into the questions, I had a comment from Brandon Rouse, Sr. |
| 0:29.0 | Brandon said, missed the show yesterday. My wife and I were celebrating our eight-year anniversary. |
| 0:33.8 | Good to be back. Brandon, congratulations, man. Eight years. That's awesome. |
| 0:39.5 | Happy for you guys. I hope you enjoyed your day. And you gave your wife a pretty good present by not |
| 0:44.3 | listening to the Irish Breakdown show. I don't know how she would have handled you listening to |
| 0:50.3 | Irish Brickdown on your anniversary. So very smart, man. That's why you're still going strong |
| 0:55.0 | at eight years. So congrats to you, my man. Congrats to your beautiful bride. We appreciate y'all |
| 1:00.1 | and want to wish you a happy anniversary. I think it's a great way for us to get to get started. |
| 1:04.2 | So let's start off. We have a super chat here from Patrick S. Duffy. Patrick says the leagues, |
| 1:09.6 | Big Tennessee, C, etc. are not conferences anymore. They are |
| 1:13.4 | corporations. Within all these conferences are a bunch of weak opponents that degrade the |
| 1:18.9 | overall quality of the schedules. Patrick, I don't disagree with that. And I think that's why |
| 1:26.2 | the divisions can, if you do it right, can help that. |
| 1:33.6 | Because, so let's say you've got two weak teams in the league and let's say you look at your division and just perennial over the last decade, you say, okay, these teams have been pretty consistently not good. |
| 2:22.1 | But these two teams have been consistently the best teams. They're going to be in the same division. So then we'll also put those two worst teams in there. So even though the top of one division may be stronger, the bottom of that division is also stronger than, or is not as strong. The bottom of that division is stronger, which kind of to me balances it out. yeah, we have to play, you know, if you're Ohio, if you're Penn State, like, yeah, we've got to play Michigan, Ohio State, Indiana every year, yeah, but you also get to play, you know, Rutgers and Northwestern and Maryland every year, Purdue every year, you know what I mean? Whereas you can say, hey, you don't have to play Ohio State in Indiana every year. Like, yeah, but we also, the worst teams we play are like UCLA, Minnesota, Wisconsin. |
| 2:24.2 | You know, those are pretty good football programs. |
| 2:26.3 | So I think those things balance itself out. But it's just, Patrick, it's impossible to have deep schedules and consistent schedules when you have 16 to 18 teams |
| 2:36.4 | just randomly getting handed schedules every year. I mean, you're absolutely right. You can't do it |
| 2:41.6 | that way. This round-robin way of scheduling just doesn't work. It's just not sustainable this way |
| 2:48.7 | because you're just going to have this crazy imbalance every year. |
| 2:52.1 | I think you can bring back the divisions and create as much balance as you possibly can |
