I actually buy this because I don't know that a new coach in this era would have been the ideal position for Iowa.

As long as the booster still support Kirk Forens and the administration still supports Kirk Forens.

You keep him there as long as he's winning because there is that level of buy-in.

The hard part is the succession at a place like that can be challenging.

And there's that danger of like, do you want to find the guy that's going to be his replacement?

Or do you just let him retire and then they go out and hire whoever?

I've never been a big fan of the coaches and waiting thing.

I think if it's the right guy, go for it.

I advocated for Marcus Freeman being that, Brian Kelly,

ended up happening a lot quicker than we thought it was going to.

But, yeah, I think in this era, it would have been a real tough for Iowa

to be making that kind of transition into a new coach

while also going to this transition of a new era.
