In the never-ending discussion about the best Beatles album,

there's been a dark horse that some people have been putting at the top of their list in recent years. A hard day's night, released on the 10th July

1964, has the third Beatles album, 30 minutes long, and the only Beatles album made up entirely

of Lennon and McCartney songs with no Ringo tune. It is the album and not the film that we are

going to talk about today. But they are hard to separate because one kind of exists without the other.

It can't really happen, can't, Stephen?

It can't.

And, you know, it really starts with the film and leads into the album.

Is it their best album?

I was talking to somebody on Twitter

and they said it does what it does better than Abbey Road does what it does.

Hmm.

I pondered that and I kind of thought,

yeah, I kind of see what they mean.

You know, it's a summation of where they are and it's a launching pad for the peak
