Summary

S02E12: Beatles For Sale

The Beatles fourth album from December 1964 didn’t even get a proper release in the USA, and for the longest time has been treated as the runt of the litter. It is an essential album from a group who in a year had become the most famous people in the world; an album born from touring the world and meeting Bob Dylan. It’s time to listen to it again.

Live on tape from Dublin and Belfast, it’s Nothing Is Real.

The songs were instead spread across the Beatles 65 and the

Beatles six albums. And over the years, it's a rare thing for someone to say that it's their

favourite Beatles album. However, are the rumours that it's a subpar, nay, the worst Beatles album,

0:48.3

even fair? I don't think it's fair. Do you think it's fair, Stephen?

0:53.0

No, this is an album that I only came

0:56.1

back to quite recently. It's not an album

0:57.9

I listened to very much, and I would

0:59.9

probably have said,

1:01.8

with the exception of Yellow Submarine,

1:03.8

it might be my least favorite

1:05.8

Beatles album, but listening

1:07.8

to it again, I think I'm

1:09.2

revising that opinion.
