Hey everyone, Ellie here, wishing you a happy Friday morning.

Well, this is the first real week back to reality. Summer

vacation is over. Labor Day weekend is over and it's back to school, back to work, back to in-person,

what have you this week. And, you know, it got me thinking there's something they don't really

teach you about or prep you for as a parent. That happens right about now every year.

There's plenty of things you're ready for, right? When you have your kid, that's, I mean,

you're not ready for that. Nobody's ever ready to have a kid. But you know that's a big change.

The first day at kindergarten, maybe the bar mitzvah, certainly high school graduation.

But the thing no one talks about that's a big deal that's really hard

is happening right now is the first college drop off or any college drop off of any of your kids.

This was me last year. My son was going in for his first year at University of Chicago.

And man, it hit me harder than expected. Your kid's gone. I mean, there's still your kid, and you see them on vacations, but they're on their own.

And I have an off year this year.

My next year will be my second kid, my daughter, going to a college to be determined.

And I guess that hits hard, too, when all of your kids are out of the house.

But I see a lot of friends on Facebook and Instagram going through this now for the first time or the last time.
