Well, the big story this week, of course, was the presidential

debate. And wow, I want to go back to something that I wrote last week, because you remember

last week's piece was sort of previewing Kamala Harris's prosecutorial style. And what I argued in that

piece is that that's her big advantage when it comes to debates and other

formats, which is that she worked as a prosecutor. But I also make a point in that piece of saying,

but not how you might think. Pop culture teaches us prosecutors are all sort of looking for dramatic

moments and their gunslingers and swashbuckling and doing dramatic, unexpected things.

That's not what real prosecutors do.

And I argued in the piece last week, that's not what Connell Harris is good at.

I wrote this.

She's not courting explosive confrontation or looking for mic drop moments.

Some Democrats desperately want to cast Harris as some striding superhero, but she's a prosecutorial pragmatist

at heart. She's sticking to primary theme. She's controlling her own environment, and she's

minimizing risk. Well, boy, that really came to fruition in the debate. I mean, she did her thing.

She wasn't explosive. She did not have mic drop moments in my view.
