In a large conference room in New York City, seven women sit around the table, waiting

for a focus group to start.

Angela Singletary is one of them.

She doesn't know exactly who is running the focus group, or even what exactly the focus

group is going to focus on.

All she knows is that she's a mother of a child with a conjureplasia, a form of dwarfism,

and someone wants her opinion so much that they flew her in from Mississippi to be part

of this group.

I just knew that it was a free trip to New York.

So I was like, yeah, I can answer questions for a free trip to New York.

The focus group begins.

A representative stands up and starts asking questions.

What are some of your concerns about your child having a conjureplasia?

What are your concerns about them socially?

What are your concerns about them medically?

What are your concerns about them physically?

If there were a cure for a conjureplasia dwarfism, you know, is that something you consider?

That's when I was like, what?

Like, there's a cure, and it was very shocking to me, like, very, very shocking to me.

While Angela is in this focus group, a treatment for a conjureplasia is in clinical trials.

Flash forward three years to today.

The FDA will soon be making a decision about whether or not to approve that treatment
