So she sent me all the letters from the Yorkshire Ripper and we sold it to the sun, the front page of the sun, for £5,000. This is like in my second week. And in the end of my time there, my nickname was gold because I said that everything I touched turned to gold. And they would say, what, do you mind what is, what are you doing? Like, what's your secret? And I said, I'm going to tell you, you're not going to believe me. This is all good.

I cannot take credit for any of this. Wonderful. Welcome, everybody. This is Simon Gilbo with Inspired. Inspired, if you're new to us, is all about meeting different mates of mine from, yeah, all sorts of different journeys and

professions and yeah we just need to be encouraged don't we because there's so

0:43.7

much bad news out there I'm it's so easy to get depressed and down as we're

0:47.9

bombarded relentlessly by grimness and negativity and it's easy to get cynical and jaded so this is counteracting that and

0:57.7

I'm loving how fruitful it is because obviously it's reflection we want to listen to good news by

how many of you are engaging with us I have no doubt they're going to be encouraged and

this week because I've got a wonderful lady who's joining us her name is jemima maim her Her maiden name was Jemima Wright. That's how I knew her for longer than not, her brother and I go way back to, I don't know, 27 years ago at St. James, at Les Pimlico. And then we were on a holiday together this last summer, we're on a Steward's Trust house party. I've been knowing that we're going to get around to this podcast,

some stage, and I'm glad we're doing it now. I love it. You've got my favourite, literally my favourite romance story of all time. So we're going to save that for the end. But, Jamima, let's get in there. First of all, let's just talk a bit about your dad because, I mean, he was one of a kind, wasn't he? He wrote a load of his own evangelistic encounters.

1:47.1

Just give me a snap.

1:48.1

Give us a snapshot of your heritage. Yeah, so he did. So my dad became a Christian when he was, I think it was about 32. And he, at that point in his life, he had everything that the world said, you should have to be happy. He had lots of money. He had an E-type Jaguar outside. He had lots of girlfriends. And he wasn't happy. And this is how

2:07.6

he tells the story that one day his housekeeper was downstairs cooking him supper and he closed his

2:13.7

curtains because he was so embarrassed about what he was about to do, even though he lived in the countryside

2:17.1

and there was no neighbours near that could see. But he closed his curtains, got down on his knees and said, God, if you're real, I want to know you. And he said, he felt like 32 years of sin lifted off your shoulders. And he knew at that point, he would have said he was a Christian before, but at that point, he knew God was real and he gave his life to Jesus.

2:36.0

A couple of years after that, he met people that said, have you been filled with the Holy Spirit?

2:39.4

And he didn't really know what that meant.

2:40.8

And they prayed with him and he got filled with the Holy Spirit.

2:43.2

And then from that, he met someone who talked to him about evangelism and sharing his faith.

2:49.4

And something happened that he then did have

2:53.5

that. The Holy Spirit filled him with boldness and my dad literally would talk to everyone about Jesus.

2:59.7

Yeah. I can test different to it. I mean, we lived in a little village in Norfolk and if we would go

3:05.7

for a walk with my dad, he would stop cars.
