Hey, it's Andrew Meriwether.

Back when Dana Zekin was a teenager, she hopped on the wrong CTA bus while trying to

get downtown from the south suburbs.

She asked the driver for help, and they ended up chatting for a little

while.

He was very excited because the next day was the bus rodeo and that he was the champion

of the slalom and he was defending his title.

Since then, Dana has always wondered whether the driver was pulling her leg, or if there really was a bus rodeo.

And I'm so happy to say it is a very real thing.

In fact, the CTA just held their transit jamboree, the first since 2019 when the pandemic put the event on pause.

The scene is almost akin to a county fair.

There are carnival games from transit workers and their families, DJs blasting house music, and numerous competitive events taking over the massive Skokie

maintenance site, including the bus rodeo, featuring the 35 best bus drivers in Chicago.
