Summary

Avery sits down with Matilda Djerf—Swedish influencer, model, and founder of Djerf Avenue—for a conversation that’s equal parts business, vulnerability, and real life. Matilda opens up about building her brand from the ground up, why she refuses to retouch photos, and how she’s creating a fashion company that actually puts customers first. She also shares the story behind her dreamy proposal, wedding plans, and what it’s really like running a business with her fiancé. They get into the darker side of being online, from cancel culture to impossible expectations, and how both of them learned to set boundaries. Matilda also speaks candidly about her ectopic pregnancy, body image struggles, and why being honest on social media matters more than ever. Plus: her “it girl” routine, favorite beauty secrets, and the small rituals that keep her grounded. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. You have no idea how excited I am for this episode. Because I have to tell you something. I would normally never say this because it's almost embarrassing. But when I first started my podcast in 2023, we came up with a list of people that I would want on. And it was like maybe 10 people. And you were one of those names.

0:38.9

Yes.

0:39.4

Oh, my God.

But everything you post just makes me very happy. And I remember when you followed me and started messaging me, I was like, oh, I made it. I said, that's it. I'm good. Like, it was such a pinch me moment. And like, you know, like I'm head to toe and jerk right now. I love jerf. I've been a customer of your brand for so long. But I think what you do is a businesswoman is something I admire so much and I am excited to talk to you about. I'm blushing. Can you tell? You're also, can I just say, I told her I said, you're even prettier in person. It's sickening. Avery, you're so sweet. No, it's true. No, you're so sweet. And also, I'm so excited to be here. Thank you. I absolutely adore you. Like, I always, whenever you wear a girf, I scream. And I, like, I send, we have our little Slack channel and I'm like, oh my God, A Ranger. So, no, this is so fun. I'm so grateful. I'm so glad you're here. I got you a matcha. Tell everyone your order. I'm really basic. It's an iced vanilla matcha with a little bit less syrup. Yeah, not as sweet. Not as sweet. Yeah. Not as sweet. Do you make matcha at home? Are you that type of person? I do. I go in like these different periods where I do, but lately I haven't. Um, because I, I don't know that good one I need. I'll enjoy a matcha. Like, I have to make my own coffee. I can't go to a coffee shop. I feel like they can't make it the way that I make it at home. I'm so particular. What's your order? So when I'm at home every day, I make a brown sugar honey sea salt latte. Excuse me? Yeah, but all dairy free. If I knew that, I would have ordered that instead of this. Oh, I would have just made you one. I can make you one after if you saw it more caffeine. But with matcha, I haven't been brave enough to try it. Like when people get out the brush and make it all official, that's a lot for me. Yeah. No. It's so easy, though. Like, it really is. I don't know. I'm like a period person. Like I'll go through periods where I'm like, I always drink my coffee the same every morning and then I try something new and then I get stuck on that. So I think with Mach, I just kind of, I left it in like 23. But then I like ordering it, especially in the afternoon. Yeah. Yeah. you, your life is so aesthetic. Like, it's everything that you do, I'm like, okay, I need to screenshot that and like try to recreate that. But if I did it, it would be like, I mean, you saw like the American Girl doll slippers upstairs on my floor, like I have toys just all over my house. I have dog toys all over my house. Oh, so cute. Balls everywhere. Yep. My dog is obsessed with balls. So it's just like all over the apartment. Your dog looks AI. I know. Tell me the name of your dog. Rufus. Yeah. Like what kind of, what's the breed? Oh my God. Okay. So he is mixed. He's like, Shih Tzu. I don't even how to pronounce these in English. So you'll have to correct me. Shih Tzu las upso. Okay. German Spitz. Okay. Chinese crested, which is like a Chinese stanket dog. He's the best. He looks like a panda slash fox slash bear and he looks like a forever puppy which is why I like

3:43.5

3:49.2

3:55.6

if you take that good of care of your dog and love your dog that much, like imagine a human child. I can't even. You know? My brother and his wife just had a baby. So I'm like stepping into my auntie era. I love that. I'm obsessed. All I do is purchase things for him. They're so small. Yes. They're tiny. Like the little hat that I got, I'm like, will this fit his head?

4:15.8

Like, it's so tiny.

4:16.6

4:27.6

Don't say that.

4:28.4

In two weeks.
