Inbound vessels chug through the forms gutted surf into the abba, keen to return to land

after a sojourn at sea.

But when winter reaches its freezing zenith, bringing storms full of ice and 30 metre swells,

most of the ship's huddling ends the pierce.

There a few of them large enough or foolish enough to brave the solstice seas.

And so, a ship anchored out in the bay just before Christmas, especially a ship that looks

so battered is a rare thing indeed.

For three days it just sat there, shrouded in sleet and fog.

The locals found it an interesting curiosity at first, but quickly lost interest when nothing

came of its presence on the pitching raer waters.

But to someone like me, someone with their senses wetted to a rares as edge by daily proximity
