In our first tale, we meet a woman who is in need of a break to get out and clear her head.

But as we learn from author Holly Dionis, perhaps a walk in the woods isn't the best idea when women in the area have been reported missing lately.

Many would say it was a dumb, thoughtless act for me to go out hiking in the forest alone when there'd been a spat of disappearances in the area.

You'll get no argument for me. My self-preservation instincts have never been the best, especially when I'm upset.

And oh boy was I upset that drizzly evening when I stormed out of my apartment and drove to the secluded forest car park at the base of Mount Lucas.

Walking the Lucas Forest trail alone as dusk falls is was a comfort food.
