Hello, gentle listener, and welcome to Nocturnal Transmissions, the fortnightly podcast that brings you dark tales both old and new, performed by voice artist, Kristen Holland.

We'd like to start this episode with a shout-out, as it were, to our friends at Sanitarium magazine,

or more specifically, the recently reborn Sanitarium, which has arisen under new ownership and management

from the ashes of its long-running

predecessor. Sanitarium is dedicated to bringing audiences the best in horror from around the

globe. If you are a writer of horror fiction, budding or established, Sanitarium Magazine is now accepting submissions for short stories,

serial fiction, and dark verse poetry. Their current submissions window is open until July 15th,

Now, as it just so happens, the writers, Brooke Wara and Ian Sputnik, are proud instigators, co-owners and operators of this new incarnation of sanitarium.

Too lovely, albeit disturbed and macabre, people who nocturnal transmissions has had the

honor to consider friends for some time now.

Dedicated listeners will of course remember Mr. Sputnik from his story's meal deal and eyes, which we featured in episodes three and eight.

She shook the rain out of her hair and opened the cupboard.

The window above the sink rattled against the storm raging outside.

She had known the young man would be here before she'd even unlocked her apartment door.

He was always waiting for her at the kitchen table, the one with

the folded-up Greyhound schedule, holding up one short leg. She had stopped dreaming about leaving town

and decided the scrap of glossy paper could be useful if she was going to insist on keeping it.

Seeing Tyler slouched at the table made her think again of pulling that brochure out and catching the next bus out of town.
