Welcome to the Gathering Pod, the audio version of my weekly gathering room broadcast. I'm Martha Beck.

Hello, darlings. I am so happy to see you on the Gathering Room here. And if you've been playing along at home,

0:17.2

you will know that four weeks ago, I said I was starting a program, which would be to

0:24.1

eliminate self-criticism, worry, and pressuring myself from my life. Since those three things

0:34.4

were seen to be the most highly correlated with neuroplastic pain and heaven

0:38.9

knows what other kinds of bad things that can happen. So I hope you guys have been getting

0:44.8

the same results I have because once I stopped self-criticizing, things got really spacious

1:37.4

up one way or another. Which would be better to worry between now and then or not worry between

1:43.7

now and then. So I thought not

1:45.8

worrying was better. And I found I was still looking both ways when I crossed the street and all that.

1:50.6

So just being careful is not the same as worrying. And the worry-free life, you guys, all I do is I

2:00.5

catch myself. So the self-criticism thing, just to review,

2:03.7

whenever I find myself self-criticizing, I not only stop it, but I have to say something nice about

2:08.7

myself to myself. And it has to be believable. And at first it looked like pretty slim pickens
