0:13.2	Everybody everywhere is longing for some kind of strength to cut into the chaos of life.
0:23.6	And of course, there are many versions of strength to appeal to these days. Turn on the news and you'll get the projected strength of
0:29.5	certainty with clear explanations as to why things are happening and provocative forecasts of
0:35.9	what will likely happen next. Turn to social media, to the
0:40.0	celebrities and the influencers who reigns supreme in the algorithm. They might not be trying
0:44.5	to forecast the future, but they will try to sell you the projected strength of comfort,
0:50.0	teaching you how to live your best life now amidst the circus of the world.
0:59.1	Or you can turn to the realm of politics and even certain religious settings where you're presented with the projected strength of control,
1:03.2	suggesting that a posture of domination and self-aggrandizing power
1:07.6	is the medicine that will eventually heal our world, even if it creates a little bit of
1:13.2	collateral destruction along the way. Certainty, comfort, and control. These are pitched to us as
1:21.2	sources of the strength we need in times of uncertainty. But are these the cures to our condition?
1:29.8	Now, none of this is to say that the news or social media or politics are inherently bad. All of these realms can be used to glorify God
1:35.2	and bless other people. The point is that all of these spaces can become arenas where we're fed
1:41.2	versions of strength that seem appetizing, but are eventually exposed as artificial.
1:48.0	Certainty, comfort, and control really are all just projected forms of strength.
1:53.7	They talk a big game, but they're brittle.
1:57.5	They eventually fall apart.
1:59.6	They're not the kinds of strength that lead to real lasting
