Years ago, I noticed a pattern in my thought that no matter how much good came my way,

it quickly disappeared into a distant memory, and my focus became the next challenge.

Negativity, worry, and doubt seemed to dominate.

Until one day I was reading the story of the children of Israel,

just freed from hundreds of years of bondage,

yet wanting to kill Moses, their savior,

because they couldn't stop focusing on the challenge at hand.

They were labeled murmurers, which in the 18th century focusing on the challenge at hand.

They were labeled murmurers, which in the 1828 Webster's Dictionary means to complain gloomily, malignantly, intractibly.

This faulty reasoning starts from a negative premise, namely that we are born of the dust,

live a difficult life, then return to dust. But I learned in Christian science that the Bible teaches us

the very opposite. We are actually each made in the image and likeness of God

or spirit, and therefore we are wholly spiritual. And in science and health with key to the scriptures, Mary Baker-Eddy refers to all of us when she says,

man is tributary to God, spirit, and to nothing else.

God's being is infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss. This was a bright light in my

consciousness. I'd been tricked by human reasoning, and I could now abandon it and focus on what is good and true, everyone's

spiritual heritage as a child of God. Once we recognize that the modus operandi of human reasoning

is to default to the negative, we no longer need be fooled
