Methuselah lived to be 969 years old.

Now, that was in the pre-flood era of our world, and so we understand that men were living much longer than the canopy of the

earth had not yet broken up, and people were living for hundreds of years. But you remember

that his father did not live nearly that long. No, Enick was a man who really lived about a third

of his son's lifetime, and yet, I must tell you that if I had to choose one life or the

other, I would much rather be Enoch than Methuselah. Enic walked with God and was not for God took him.

May I just say to you that the measurement of life is not in how long you live. It's not in the length

of your life. It's in the depth of your life. It's not in the length of your life. It's in the depth of your life.

It's not in the number of your days, but the substance of your days. I've been noticing

lately in scripture this repeated emphasis on length of days and long life. They're not the same

thing. You can live a long time, but your days not extend and make the difference and the influence that they ought to make.

My pastor used to say that the decisions we make are more important than the days we live.

And I believe that's absolutely true, especially as we come to today's text in Ecclesiastes chapter number six.

Because from verse three, down through verse number six

Solomon really narrows down some things that are true no matter how long you live

you may live a long life I hope you have such a privilege but you may have a life

cut short at least by man's standards and someone may say he was gone too quickly.
