The next in-person gathering will be the first Tuesday of August at Grand Street Healing.

We're having a retreat as we have for pretty much the last 12 years,

except for the first two years of the pandemic.

We've had a yearly retreat at Garrison over Labor Day,

and Garrison Institute is easily reachable from New York just by

Metro North pretty much close almost to the front of the center very nice hour and 10-minute ride

if you're up for trying a Buddhist retreat we'd keep it pretty easy for people of all

practice levels. So on Labor Day. And finally, if you would like to support my work,

everything I do is entirely supported by donations. I don't charge for anything. I don't

put anything behind a paywall. It's all freely available. And I'm completely supported by just

contributions. I don't take advertising. Not that I'm sure anybody would want to advertise on a Buddhist pastor's teaching, but yeah, there you go.

So every generation faces its challenges.

Certainly wars, depressions, social upheaval.

But this generation is definitely coming of age, people under the age of 25,

with a challenge that's certainly very disorienting in terms of most of us grew up hearing variations of a single

formula, which is you get a degree, you find a steady job, you eventually can buy a home

and retire if you keep showing up and working hard.

The expectations that the formula of diploma of some kind plus hard work would open doors,

the way it did for generations obviously no longer is holding true.

Many people these days are watching their parents,

having navigated the path to far more optimal results in terms of security and well-being.
