Welcome to the Boneyard with Steve Robertson. As always, I am your good friend and host, Steve Robertson.

Hope things are well with you today. It's Monday, the last official week of the month of July.

And you know what that means? Next week, football camp starts. We used to call it fall camp. It's not really fall camp. It's pre-season camp.

Because, you know, you know, it doesn't get fall around here to October. At least it doesn't feel

like fall. And even then, it's a relative term. It seems like when we were kids, you know,

of course that's, you know, decades ago for so many of us. But it seemed like, you know, right around Labor Day, things

kind of started to calm down a little bit temperature-wise. And by the time you got in the late

September, you know, there's a little wind and the leaves start falling. And now it feels like

it's summertime all the way up to like November 1st. It feels that that way I don't know that I'm buying all

this climate change stuff I don't be honest with you but nevertheless we're

going to be out there at football practice and we have the big the cookout you know

the Summer Slam cookout deal,

we'll do that Thursday evening on campus.

So Wednesday, we'll give you a bit of a preview of that.

But last big recruiting date of the off season.

And we'll get into fall camp and everybody then,

everybody gets into football mode, everybody.

High school players, high school coaches, college coaches.

Sometimes we forget about that as we, you know, I've made a career, you know, covering

recruiting for the most part and really how I got my start in the industry.

But at the end of the day, as great as recruiting is and as fun as it is to follow, as my wife

says, it's a soap opera for men. All of that said, it's part of a bigger picture, and that's football.
