Greetings, friends, and welcome back to another archive episode of On the Wind. I'm your host,

Andy Schell, recording this on Monday, August 1st. This is a more recent archive with Nikki Henderson.

This came out in March of 2021. I think it's episode, it was episode number 321. I'm re-airing it

today, or I guess tomorrow, as I talk about this in real time, because we've got some big

news at 59 North. Nikki and I did a live session on the quarter deck last week to announce

her officially joining 59 North in a full-time capacity to help us build the quarterdeck,

help us sail the boats, and help us run the

business overall. This has been in the works for some time now. Nikki and I first met, I think,

in October of 2020, and pretty much hit it off right away. We kind of both knew who each other

were, but it never met before, surprisingly, because you end up seeing the same people in a lot of the same places in this lifestyle. But we tell the whole story on the quarterdeck live that we did, which if you're a member, you can see on there the replay video is posted, and it's going to be coming out if you're not a member on the quarterdeck podcast at the beginning of our next season in a week or two, I think. But big

deal, I wanted everybody to get a sense for who Nikki is. And this first interview I did with

her when we sailed together for the first time in the Caribbean aboard Ice Bear, I believe it was

February of 2021. It gives you a good sense of Nikki's background who she is. And we talk a lot about

life and philosophy here. And I think those of you who heard this at the time probably thought,

oh, man, these guys would make a great match in business. And here we are a little more than a year

later. And it's official. Nikki's joining us full time. Ironically, she's on vacation this week. Part of the reason she's joining us is because she's never been able to take a vacation for the last 10 years or so, and neither have I.

So one of our goals is that Nikki and I can sort of duplicate each other's responsibilities

so that each of us can take a little bit more time off while we know the other person is capable of running the business in our absence.

So very, very exciting times here and have to listen to this first interview with Nikki to see why I was so excited to have her on the team.

It's also a great time to join the quarterdeck because Nikki working full time, that's going to be her primary responsibility is building the quarter deck and really taking this vision that August and I started with and fleshing it out in a way that we haven't been able to do in the last year and a half just because of a capacity issue. August and I spent a lot of time at sea, and now we've got Nikki to join the fold

and help us produce awesome content and grow the quarterdeck in a way that fulfills that
