Hello and welcome to The Rundown, a podcast from Politics Home with me Alan Tolvest.

This weekend marks 12 months since last year's general election, when Labour was swept to power

with an enormous landslide victory, ending 14 long years in opposition. But it seems unlikely

they'll be hanging the bunting or popping champagne corks in number 10 tonight,

after rebellion over controversial welfare cuts overshadowed any cause for celebration,

with an awkward climb down and meant speculation about the Chancellor,

possibly even the Prime Minister's future swirling around Westminster.

In truth, it's been a very tough first year in office for Kyr Stama, inheriting a

badly damaged economy and facing a string of global crises, but there have undoubtedly been

unforced errors too, all leading to what's been labelled the worst start to any premiership in living

memory. But all is not perhaps lost. Prime Ministers have had poor starts before, and there are

still an awfully long way to go to the next election,

with plenty of time for Starmor and his government to implement his plans to fix public services,

turn the economy round and win a second term.

So to discuss just how bad things have got and how Labour might solve their problems,

we have again partnered with the polling and strategy firm Thinks Insight,

who have taken the nation's temperature this week.
