| 0:00.0 | Welcome to another episode of The Chicks on the Right podcast. |
| 0:03.0 | We are so glad to have our friend of the show, Nick Freitas, back with us to talk news of the day. |
| 0:08.9 | And it's so perfect because you have been a Virginian for a good deal of time, not anymore, but you have recently been a Virginia. |
| 0:18.4 | And, of course, there's a lot of news coming out of your former state. |
| 0:22.0 | And as a former Virginia delegate dying to get your take on all the stuff going on right now, |
| 0:29.5 | particularly as it pertains to the maps and like the freaking dirty-ass plans that Democrats are |
| 0:35.4 | trying to employ to change them and to get rid of the Supreme Court. |
| 0:39.5 | What in the world? |
| 0:41.5 | Oh, I mean, is anyone really surprised anymore? |
| 0:44.1 | I mean, this is the part that keeps cracking me up. |
| 0:46.7 | I remember when they, when they brought us, when they first brought us into special session, |
| 0:50.8 | and they said they were going to do this, this gerrymander scheme, we're sitting here going, this is unconstitutional. This is, this is against rules. This is against tradition. This is against the constitution. You can't do it this way. And I remember we had various debates on how we were going to respond to it. And you still had members of the General Assembly like, well, you know, you know, we need to stay here and, you know, two wrongs don't make a right. It's like, I'm not talking about two wrongs making a right. I'm talking about when you show up to a fight and they start stabbing you, right? That's against the rules. You're not supposed to do this. And, you know, they shouldn't surprise anybody. The Supreme Court ruled the way they did. |
| 1:28.9 | I mean, I was surprised simply because the moment they said they weren't going to hear it |
| 1:32.1 | until after the referendum, I thought that they were giving themselves an excuse. But what the |
| 1:39.0 | Supreme Court of Virginia upheld was what the lower court had already decided months ago. |
| 1:46.2 | So before there was any massive campaign, before Democrats spent $64 million on this |
| 1:52.0 | referendum before any of it, the lower court had said, yeah, you violated the Constitution. |
| 1:58.1 | And they had said that they had violated the constitutions in the exact way that |
| 2:01.6 | we had said they have violated the Constitution when we have the floor debate on it. We're like, |
| 2:06.0 | okay, special sessions are only supposed to be hold for specific things. This one was held for the |
| 2:10.0 | budget. Turns out, gerrymandering the entire state doesn't fall within the budget definition, right? |
| 2:16.1 | And then we said, you're already in the middle of an intervening |
