pan pipes or some whale song or whatever you're supposed to put on to make a calming

And that is Nick, a listener from London.

Some of you may remember that I did a kind of ghetto pledge drive last year.

It was called the Swag Pledge Drive.

And I gave away a number of prizes to lucky winners.

I gave away a pair of boiled wool mittens that my sister made,

a box of kindling that my boyfriend put together, a

VPR pledge drive mug, and one of the prizes was going to be an interview with me in my car in the

Dunkin Donuts parking lot in Montpelier, Vermont.

Well, Nick won the interview, but Nick lives in London, so we did the interview by Skype,

which is why the audio sounds kind of Skype-y.

But the good news is that I caught Nick just as he

and his wife Sarah were about to have their first child. So today's show is kind of special

or an extra or maybe we can even call it the Christmas

Miracle Show.
