My name is Rob Maower. Today we're talking about NHTSA's safety rating for the Model 3,

amongst a couple other pieces of news.

Tesla stock on Thursday closed down 0.23% to $298.33.

This compared to the NASDAQ up 0.98%.

Big news today, the National Highway Traffic

and Safety Administration has finally rated the model 3 for

safety. NHTSA rates on a five-star scale on a few different categories and

subcategories. The main categories being frontal crash, side crash, and rollover.

Unsurprisingly, like the model S and even the model X before it,

which was actually the first SUV to score this way.

The model 3 has scored a 5 star rating in every category and subcategory of NHTS testing.

While this was expected, it's still nice to see it confirmed, nice to have the affirmation that

though the model 3 is a much cheaper vehicle than the S and the X,

it is still able to achieve those same incredibly high safety ratings.

A 2018 BMW 3 series, for example, is able to achieve five stars in all the categories except for the

frontal crash rating, which is only four stars for the BMW.

Similar four-star frontal crash test ratings for the Audi A4 and Mercedes C class with the Mercedes

C class actually only getting four stars in the rollover testing as well. So this

is a nice competitive advantage, a really great achievement for Tesla. Obviously this is one of the big
