Summary

There were two big games on the week 13 NFL schedule - the Philadelphia Eagles at the Baltimore Ravens, and the San Francisco 49ers at the Buffalo Bills.  And we did watch Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts, and a suddenly transcendent Eagles defense make a statement against Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, Zay Flowers and the rest of the Ravens, during Sunday night football we saw Josh Allen potentially cement his MVP campaign against Kyle Shanahan’s 49ers. But Ben Solak wants us to know that there were also unexpected stories across the league. Like how the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals met up in the highest scoring meeting the two teams have ever had. Joe Burrow’s heroics weren’t enough to outmatch Russell Wilson’s prolific passing day.  Or how between Shane Steichen, Jerod Mayo, Drake Maye, and Anthony Richardson, we might be seeing the rivalry between the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots enter a new - post Tom Brady and Peyton Manning - generation. And there’s even a second life for Bryce Young with the Carolina Panthers, who may have lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in overtime, but seem to be heading in the right direction. So Ben Solak joins us to tell us what he watched - and handicap the NFL’s MVP race as the season starts to wind down. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Justin Tucker, if he's still there, setting up to attempt the game winner.

0:18.5

How do you think everyone in Baltimore would, you know, feel in that moment?

0:23.8

Bad. Not good.

0:25.6

This, it was a couple of weeks ago that I tweeted like, I think it was against the, in the Steelers game it was.

0:31.3

Yeah.

0:31.8

That if Justin Tucker's name weren't Justin Tucker, it wouldn't be a, do the Ravens need a new kicker?

0:37.1

It would be a how have the Ravens nots need a new kicker? It would be a

0:37.6

how have the Ravens not yet got a new kicker? Like this has been a storyline now over the course

0:43.2

of the season for Justin Tucker. So here we are with them now losing another game. They lost

0:47.7

that Steelers game. He missed kicks in that game. They lose this game to the Eagles. The kicks

0:51.6

would have been extremely valuable to managing that late game situation.

0:54.8

And now we're left wondering exactly that, right?

0:56.9

The Ravens now with these losses that are accumulating are firstly not going to have

1:00.6

home field advantage throughout the playoffs, which is a big, big deal.

1:03.1

But then secondly, are not going to feel good on fourth and mediums putting the kicker

1:07.1

out there instead of attempting those.

1:08.6

And even if this is like a small sample regression, whatever,

1:13.7

the confidence is really going to be low on a guy.
