Summary
(00:00-27:27) – Query & Company opens on a Hump Day Wednesday with Jake Query and producer Eddie Garrison discussing some storylines ahead of tomorrow’s NFL Draft. They also talk about last night’s NBA playoff games with Victory Wembanyama exiting with a concussion last night and LeBron James turning back the clock to carry the injury riddled Lakers to a 2-0 series lead.
(27:27-37:29) – With the Colts having 48+ hours until their first pick in the NFL Draft, Jake and Eddie list off the position needs the Colts have to address before the start of training camp. Is there a position group that they have to come out of the draft with in round two or three?
(37:29-48:05) – The first hour of Query & Company concludes with Jake Query and producer Eddie Garrison discussing the history of the NFL Draft. How many first overall picks are still with us?
(48:05-1:17:36) – The 1990 first overall pick in the NFL Draft, Jeff George, joins Jake Query to give the perspective on what the buildup in the nights before and the day of the draft is like when you know that you are the first overall selection. Jake asks Jeff for his opinion on the skills that Fernando Mendoza possesses, admits that he could see Mendoza not struggling to earn the trust of the locker room when the future of the Raiders are in a similar age range as him, and believes that the Raiders should start Mendoza over Kirk Cousins.
(1:17:36-1:24:24) – Jake continues discussing something that Jeff George pointed out with the leadership aspect of Fernando Mendoza that he shouldn’t have issues with. They also discuss how Mendoza could end up being a similar player to Sam Darnold or Brock Purdy.
(1:24:24-1:36:33) – Hour number two of Query & Company concludes with Jake and Eddie rattling names of quarterbacks that they would take over Sam Darnold. Plus, they have a caller explain why he isn’t interested in following the NFL Draft.
(1:36:33-2:02:36) – Joel Erickson from the IndyStar joins Query & Company to discuss which position group is of need for the Indianapolis Colts that isn’t being talked about, identifies Riley Leonard as the backup quarterback for the Colts and that Anthony Richardson will be elsewhere despite some of the things Chris Ballard said earlier this week. Jake also asks Joel if the draft doesn’t have as much pop to it as some of the previous drafts.
(2:02:36-2:15:36) – Terry McCormick from the Titan Insider joins Jake Query to give his thoughts on what the Titans will do on Thursday night with the fourth overall pick. Will Jeremiyah Love be heading from South Bend to Nashville? Jake also asks Terry about the development of Cam Ward throughout his rookie season and comments on why the Titans have historically had the same type of roster construction and game play from regime to regime.
(2:15:36-2:23:33) – Today’s show ends with JMV joining Jake Query in studio to preview his show!
