This is the New World Report. Venezuela, a rogue state, headed by a dictator Maduro,

and his friends from across the seas. That would be Moscow and Beijing and probably Pyongyang, certainly Tehran and Beirut.

However, right now Venezuela looks to be conducting a charm offensive.

I note that the big date is January 10th for the inauguration of the new president,

who it is said by opponents of the regime, is named Gonzales orito.

He's been in exile, self-imposed exile.

In Spain, returning on the 10th, we're told, to uncertain future, we're told.

At the same time, there were hundreds arrested

in protest of the said-to-be-corrupt election, and Venezuela's charm offensive now includes

day after day of releasing prisoners, detainees, since the July election.

And there's reason to celebrate.

The families are reunited.

There's no evidence of torture, the horrors of Syria.

But in any event, it appears that Maduro is gesturing in some fashion.
