The New World Report with Professor Evan Ellis of the U.S. Army War College Strategic Studies Institute,

the Americas and Donald Trump's administration, several days old and already not only

conflict, but major news in all capitals to do with the migrants in this country who are not

documented or have committed crimes in some fashion, and deportation begins.

I welcome you, Evan, to comment in general about how deportation has worked for years. The Biden administration, the Obama administration, the

first Trump administration. Good evening to you, and when you deport someone, what happens?

These airplanes look to be, so cargo holds, not passenger airplanes, and the young men who are

being walked on, according to the photographs that I've seen, have chains linking them

together.

I'm told that that is to control them on the aircraft because the number of men who are being

deported compared to those who are escorting them is disproportionate, so you'll have to be very

careful on an airplane.

What was it like before?

It's important to understand the evolution of the management of migration and migration policy. So if you go back

to the era before the first Trump administration, of course, you had issues with migrants

coming in illegally into the U.S., the deportation of some.

But what occurred at the beginning of the first Trump administration was a recognition

increasingly by many that there was a loophole that, you know, if you presented yourself

at the border and said that you were an economic migrant,
