former Foreign Minister of the Republic of Brazil, Joseph Umar Executive Director of Secure

Free Society. This is the Guardian reporting from London out of Bogota, Colombian President's

allies resign amid illegal wire-typing scandal. Inquiry reveals phone calls of Gustavo Petro's

AIDS Nanny intercepted in grotesque abuse of power. Joseph, I just got lost. What is happening

to Petro and his immediate circle? Yeah, this is quite a soap opera worthy of its own

Netflix, I think, special. So there's essentially three main protagonists that you need to know

about. The one's obvious is the President Gustavo Petro Colombia. But the other two may be

not as well known to the audience. The first is his chief of staff, who despite her very

young age, I think she's only like 29 or so. She's a very prominent person inside Petro's

cabinet because she's the one that coordinates his agenda. Her name is Laura Serabia.

And then the third protagonist is the Colombian ambassador, Petro's ambassador to Venezuela.

I mean, Armando Benedetti was a former congressman in Colombia, very influential in the country

and also very close to Petro's coalition that helped him win the election. So what happens,

and this isn't going to be literally convoluted, but I try to make it very simple, what happened

was there was a scandal that broke out because there was some money that was missing.

You know, he starts with some money, right? There was a briefcase that was apparently stolen.

They had about $7,000 and they didn't know where it went. And so they were accusing the

Nanny of Serabia of basically potentially taking this briefcase. So they forced her to take

a polygraph and they ended up firing her. After they fired her, she went to Venezuela to work

for the ambassador. And this was all just real weird circumstance. But what this actually

revealed, and this is what the scandal it was about, was wiretaps because apparently Petro's
