Cody Rhodes appearing on the Bill Simmons podcast. The full episode is out today. But there's been a clip release that, well, yeah, has just been all over the internet over the last 24 hours. It's Cody talking about his time in AEW. And the clip starts, not with any question from Bill, but by just with Cody saying, there's clearly bad blood, but there's also clearly love and respect. In the end, the way I see it is, if I felt disrespected ever at WWE, that's one thing. That's a company. That's the New York Yankees, effectively. That's the flagship at all. If I felt there that I was a number on a sheet, maybe. but feeling disrespected at something I built with my friends that we built feeling

crediting Brandy for encouraging to leave AW, of course, in 2022, eventually ending up, of course,

at WrestleMania 38, rejoining WWE. Brandy and I both, says Cody. I'm so blessed to have her. It was one of those

where it was, F it. I did way more here than you think, and you're going to find out the moment I am

out the door, and the clip closes with Cody talking about revenge. I don't believe in the

cold-hearted, backstabby type of revenge. The greatest revenge on earth is success, says Cody. And I felt like we were sitting on something wonderful, something great, a huge potentially with what I was doing with the American nightmares, a bad guy, is a good guy, something in between. We were sitting on something magic. And if I'm not going to do it in the house, I literally with Matt, Nick and Kenny built, then buddy, I'm going to do it elsewhere.

So sort of peeling back the curtain on something that he hasn't really talked much about

with regards to his, I wouldn't say acrimonious departure from AW,

but certainly surprising back in the day, wasn't it?

None of us saw it coming.

Yeah, I guess what's happening here is that we are tiptoeing ever closer detail by detail into finding the full extent of maybe why Cody Rhodes left AW beyond the simple act of a wrestler choosing to go to the organisation when a contract expires, which is part of what happened obviously.

But there was the American Nightmare documentary a couple of years ago, wasn't there where he just tried to, he didn't brush it off as such but he was like yeah, there's a personal issue and that was all he was prepared to say and he spoke with a lot of love in his heart and he always, I still think there's a sense affection there for the books and for Kenya, again he keeps talking about what we built, what we built, there's obviously, as there should be, an enormous amount of pride for what the wrestlers were able to accomplish with Tony Carnet in the very beginning, to even launch Adewy to get it off the ground. I can't remember the last time I ever heard him speak so frankly about the status of the American nightmare character, because I would have to push back slightly. I would have to say, a wrestler, of course,
