In the last of our series exploring the food stories of great cities,

we've come to Newcastle, and I'm being taken to a food location many people don't even know exists.

So we're going behind the scenes.

In this sturdy old part of the city. We are in the stier old part of the city a tall building on the impressive North

umberland Street Newcastle's busiest shopping area.

But the sun refused to show. busiest shopping area. There is no sun where we're going, which is underground, beneath

the city's streets. I've come to a family-owned department store which opened its doors in 1882.

Above is a glorious food hall, but it's 11 o'clock in the morning and I've headed below to find a baker before he clocks off.

The shift just finishing. As soon as anybody around. So the bakers are still. Paul.

Paul makes all the products here at Fenik.

We're just downstairs in the bakery and the lower ground floor.

And how much bread every day are you baking?

I'm interested in one particular type of bread Paul has baked,
