Summary

On the morning of April 24th, 1891, the body of a mutilated woman is found in a New York hotel room. Immediately, fear that Jack the Ripper was now at work in America hit the headlines, and the newly-formed New York Police Department was under tremendous pressure to find their man and prove their competence. 0:55.2	Given the occupants a few moments to respond, he then knocked again.
0:59.5	Still, not a stir was heard within the room.
1:03.0	Rocking louder still, he waited, and waited.
1:07.0	Annoyed and also concerned, since the key to the room had never been returned,
1:12.0	he finally broke the door open.
1:16.0	Instead of finding the empty room he expected, he found something far worse.
1:28.7	The room was still occupied but not by the living. On the bed lay a lifeless woman in a pool of blood. Her clothing had been wrapped and twisted around her head, obscuring her face.
1:36.5	Her abdomen cut open, she was disemboweled, and next to her lay a bloody sharpened table knife, and the man she checked in with, the man who checked in as her husband, was nowhere to be found.
1:49.0	In shock, the hotel employee rushed back down to the office, and word was immediately sent to the police station.
