Former Jets quarterback Aaron Rogers had some not-so-n nice things to say about the Jets run game in 2024, and I think he was right. But we're going to begin by talking about Jets wide receiver Malachi Corley, who was the third round picked by the team last year. In fact, the Jets traded up to the top of the third round to select him. Over the weekend, Rich Samini of ESPN had an article about Malachi Corley. And as Samini promoted that article on Twitter, he mentioned that Corley's roster spot is not a guarantee.

And you can go check out the article. Has quotes from Aaron Glenn. It has quotes from his receiver coach Sean Jefferson. But the bottom line is that Corley is going to have to step up this year if he wants to remain a member of the New York Jets. He's going to have to step up even more if he wants to be a productive member of the team. And I think that it's right for the Jets to make Corley earn his roster spot.

contexts over the last couple of weeks is that I think the idea, I think the team should always

strive to have competition. I think one of the things, one of the ways that NFL teams missed

the mark is when a player achieves special status,

either because of where he was selected in the draft because he was a high draft pick,

or because, you know, he was a big money free agent.

Sometimes guys get jobs they don't, they haven't earned.

You know, sometimes like the second round picks automatically a starter.

Or sometimes, you know, that big money free agent automatically has this role.

And there's nothing wrong with competition.

You know, just because a player has a lesser draft status doesn't mean he's a

worst player.

You know, back in 2019, the Jets selected Jekai Polite in the third round.
