Today we're going to do our 53 man roster projection focused on the defense and special teams.

And of course, there's still one preseason game left to go. It's this weekend when the Jets face their cross stadium rivals, the New York Giants.

So one last chance for guys on the bubble to make an impression. But let's figure out who's in the driver's seat right now.

Let's figure out which players have the inside track to a roster spot.

And I'm going to use the same criteria I used yesterday, which is a combination of me like interpreting what the Jets will do based on what this regime has done in the past.

Some of the philosophies they've shown us in the past, which can kind of guide us into their decision making, what common sense would dictate, which always dangerous when we're dealing with the Jets to invoke common sense. And then a little bit what kind of like the direction I hope they'll go in. And sometimes these things will be conflicted and I'll have to make a judgment call. But let's move forward. Let's start with the defensive end position. And I think the Jets are

going to keep six guys here. Now, I think there's going to be a coin toss for the last slot.

I think there are four guys who are absolute locks. I think there's one guy who I would expect

to make the team. And then there's like one coin flip for the last

of the six spots. So let's focus on, you know, the six guys who I think will make it. I think it will be six. I think no matter what happens, I'd be surprised if it wasn't six just because Robert Sala likes to have a lot of defensive line depth, practically a cliche at this point that, you know, he likes to rotate guys in and out every team's got a defensive line rotation but sall it's a

philosophical thing he likes to rotate guys in and out. Every team's got a defensive line rotation, but Sal, it's a philosophical thing. He likes, he likes heavy rotations, likes to get a bunch of guys, a lot of snaps, so that everybody's fresh, so that, you know, you never have a tired pass rush around the field, and so that his top guys are not fatigued when you're trying to close out the game in the fourth quarter. So I'm listing to San Redick because I don't know what to do with the San Reddick right now.

He's obviously holding out. So he's a lock. I mean, if he wants to play, he'll be there. So I included him as one of the four locks, even though I guess in some ways he's not a lock. but until he's not on the team week one i don't know what else you could do but say you know he's
