Hey there from CNN. I'm David Rind with the five things you need to know for Monday,

December 8th. Let's start with yet another twist and a story that could massively shake

up Hollywood and the streaming services you subscribe to. Paramount announced this morning that

it's launching a hostile takeover bid for Warner Brothers Discovery, which I should say is the parent company of CNN.

Paramount was widely expected to be the frontrunner for WBD for a while, but on Friday, the company announced it had opted for Netflix, saying it had offered a more lucrative deal.

But fast forward to this morning, and Paramount has gone straight to WBD shareholders with an all-cash

offer for the entire company that it says is more valuable than the Netflix deal.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump weighed in on that Netflix deal last night, both praising

the company's CEO, while saying there could be some issues with it.

Well, that's got to go through a process, and we'll see what happens.

It's a Netflix, a great company.

They've done a phenomenal job.
