Summary

Newly released video from January 6 shows a supporter of former President Trump, Scott Fairlamb, taunting, stalking, and punching law enforcement outside the U.S. Capitol. Fairlamb is charged with 12 criminal counts including assaulting police and carrying a dangerous weapon into the Capitol. These videos recently released by the Department of Justice undermine Republican efforts to whitewash the January 6 insurrection. Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego tells Anderson Cooper he doesn’t think these videos will change any of his Republican colleagues’ minds. Plus, despite the Vatican’s warning, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops proceeded with a plan that could deny communion to public figures who support abortion rights, like President Joe Biden. Rev. James Martin said he was very surprised and discouraged by the vote. He joins AC360 to discuss whether or not he thinks the vote was politically motivated.   Airdate: June 18, 2021   Guests: Rep. Ruben Gallego Rev. that the Capitol on January 6 have repercussions for beyond that date, even for those who

choose to whitewash its existence or minimize its impact. The former vice president certainly

0:14.4

understands that or he should and after today especially. Before we show you what happened

0:18.8

to him today, there's a quick refresh of what happened to him on January 6. Take a look.

It's images of him, authorities rushing him to a security area. His family is with him

Okay, so that was more than five months ago. Today reminder that for many supporters of

0:47.6

the former president, none of that anger has gone away. Mike Pence appeared at what was

0:51.7

built as the faith and freedom coalition summit today and in years past it's kind of the

0:56.2

audience who would have welcomed him. Today he did get applause but he also was booed and

1:01.5

people continually interrupted his scripted remarks screaming out the word traitor.

1:26.8

I want to thank my friend Rafferty for those overly generous words and deeply humbled by

1:33.8

him. He really knows me well enough to know. The election I prefer is a little bit shorter.

1:41.2

I'm a Christian, a conservative and a Republican in that order and I am honored to stand before

1:47.7

you. Now in case you have any confusion about why they are screaming traitor at Mike Pence,

1:53.1

not because he continues to stand by the former president who disgraced himself in the country

1:56.7

by praising insurrectionists while they were still attacking the Capitol saying that they

1:59.9

were very special people and he loved them. No, in the view of many of the former president

2:04.1

supporters, Pence is a traitor because he did his constitutional duty on January 6th,

2:08.5

overseeing the certification of the election. Mike Pence still wants to be president though
