My name is Ryan and I make music under the name Sleeping At Last.

And this is the Sleeping At Last podcast.

I am incredibly excited because I recently launched a brand new series of tiny music

called Adams, ATOMS.

And today's episode is all about it.

Essentially in a nutshell, it's tiny pieces of music inspired by small and beautiful things.

So when I see something that kind of captures my attention, I take a video of it and then I write a short piece of new music for that little moment or that scene, almost like little film scores or vignettes.

I'm essentially trying to musically follow Mary Oliver's beautiful poem instructions for living a life.

Pay attention, be astonished, tell about it.

So each atom song and video will be roughly one minute in length, give or take a little bit, which kind of compliments our social media digital age and honestly are short attention spans.

And these will be released entirely spontaneously.

So first, they'll be posts on my Instagram and TikTok and YouTube and places like that.

And then shortly after each atom will be widely available on Spotify, Apple Music and all the other places that music can be found.

In the same way that seeing something really beautiful in the middle of my day, it kind of feels like a noasis or a chance to kind of catch my breath.

The hope for Adams is to offer up that same feeling, that same kind of mini meditation in your Instagram timeline or your TikTok feed or in the middle of your next doom scroll.

Or even when you're deep down a YouTube rabbit hole, I love the idea of kind of stumbling into these little one minute-ish pieces of music.

And just having a moment to kind of catch your breath a little bit.

And because real life Adams become molecules, once a handful of my little atoms are really sent to the wild, I'll do what I'm calling a molecule session.

And basically, I will kind of pick out a few of these atoms, perhaps with a little bit of your help.

I don't know if that's voting or in some way after a bunch of these are out there.

And then I will expand on them and evolve them and kind of transforming them into something different and new.
