It's a new year and that means new laws taking effect in states across the country.

There are a lot of them so we can't cover them all, but as ABC News points out, the laws taking

effect as of January 1st include everything from minimum wage requirements

to marijuana to consumer privacy rules to gun regulations.

Here are some of them.

As we mentioned on Monday, more than 20 states and 26 cities and counties will be boosting
