Hello, everyone and welcome to police off the cuff, real crime stories.

I'm your host, retired NYPD Sergeant Bill Cannon, a 27-year veteran of the NYPD.

You know, as new information comes out in this case, of course, the murder of Madeline Soto,

we go back to the beginning and we go back to all of the things that have occurred,

all the things that have done, been done

investigatively by both the Orange County Sheriff's Office and by the Kissimmee Police.

And the two great interviewers, interrogators, are from the Orange County Sheriff's Office,

and they are from what we would say in New York

is the Special Victims Unit in Florida.

They're still calling it the Sex Crimes Unit.

And these two, I'll name them by name,

Detective Frank Hunt and Detective Mara Tadler.

They did an outstanding job of interviewing both Madeline Soto and Stefan Stearns.

Because when this case first happened and look at it, I look at it from an investigator's perspective.

And almost immediately as an investigative detective sergeant, a boss on the scene,

I would go to my detectives and detectives and say, I don't like this guy. I would have had

my antennas up, and I would have sensed that Stefan Stearns was not right. Minute one, the minute I met this guy.

And then you do the interviews, police interrogation of Stefan Stearns.

And what we saw during this interview interrogation was deception, lies, and inconsistencies.

And I read some of the chat before, and I mean, when I listened,

and we'll listen to some of the interview later, when I listen to Stefan Stearns,

I just want to shake the guy and slap him right across his face.
