I'm Brian Hyatt. This is Rolling Stone Music Now. So somehow here in

2023 in the space of a few weeks we have had now and then a new song of sorts by

the Beatles plus a music video,

and a brand new album,

Hackney Diamonds, from the Rolling Stones.

These two improbable events

leave us with a lot to talk about,

so to dig in I have

Andy Martosio and Andy Green it felt like this would be the last time in the

history of civilization there will be in the space of a few weeks a new Beatles and a new stone song that is it world that is it that is the end of this era

It should have ended a long time ago since the full Beatles lineup hasn't been around for quite a long time but somehow here in the far

future of 2023 only now are we hitting the end of an era when this is possible

somehow yeah I think it needs to be said that the Stone stuff is a fully legit Stones record, fully legit stone songs.

This is Beatles that has a big asterisk next to it I would argue.

All right, well before you're going to go into sides, let's just agree that it's a very

happy and rare time, as Brian said, like it's something to celebrate and be psyched

about. Even like the kids on

Tik-Tok are excited about it. It's crazy. It's beyond rare. It's like I said it's this is

it. This is the end of it all and this is a fairly energetic last gasp. We'll talk about the Stones album which is like you said a real Stones album

which is in its own way as eerie as what the Beatles the quote-unquote Beatles did now and then the Beatles did. Now and then, the Beatles song has an interesting history and it's tied into the Beatles reunion,

the Three Devils reunion in 1994, and it's really the third in a trio of songs that have major

asterisk on them which is free as a bird. Real love.
