| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the show everyone and I do have a show for you today a quick warning that it is a rerun but it's a nice old one |
| 0:06.1 | So there's a good chance you haven't heard it and full of all kinds of evergreen content |
| 0:11.4 | So it's definitely worth your time, but before we begin I have an announcement to make it is not a happy announcement of any kind |
| 0:19.5 | Unfortunately, I have to come to you and explain |
| 0:23.8 | Very sad situation a very unfortunate situation which is that I have discovered labor rights abuses happening |
| 0:31.8 | Literally right under my nose having to do with the work that goes into this show |
| 0:36.8 | Obviously I'm not happy or proud to be talking about that |
| 0:40.8 | Shocking as it is for a progressive show that consistently |
| 0:46.8 | You know, preaches labor rights and and going far beyond that and the importance of making sure people can get outside the world of work and experience |
| 0:59.8 | All the rest that life has to offer and yet right here there have been some problems happening honestly |
| 1:07.8 | And obviously I have to accept complicity in what was going on but as I say it was sort of happening under my nose and without my full awareness |
| 1:18.8 | So you know what what's happened I'm happy to explain for you to really understand you have to understand the structure of how this show works |
| 1:29.8 | A lot of people write in and they say things like you know you know J and your team or you know everyone at best of left or you know your whole staff there or whatever |
| 1:38.8 | And so I totally get that there's a lack of awareness about how this show comes together and so the structure is basically like this |
| 1:47.8 | There's me I do sort of the research production hosting gig under me there's always been well not always but for the last few years |
| 1:55.8 | There's been someone who does research on activism maybe gabbles in social media work that sort of thing |
| 2:03.8 | There have been a couple of previous people who held that position when the last person let me know that they were going to leave |
| 2:12.8 | I replaced them with a person who happened to have every single one of the skill sets that I needed for all the writing research communications |
| 2:24.8 | social media all of that stuff who just happened to be my girlfriend that's Amanda Hoffman who you hear thanked in the you know at the in the credits at the end of every episode |
| 2:35.8 | And aside from us there's just one other volunteer who has been a steadfast contributor who I hope is only putting in you know an hour maybe a couple of hours a week |
| 2:47.8 | Helping gather sort organize clips and those all float to me and I use that as as part of my research so where are all these labor rights abuses happening and who's that affecting |
| 3:00.8 | Honestly it turns out it's just me it's not much more complicated than the fact that I have been working too much and I didn't realize it that is the honest truth |
