0:30.7	Hello, creatives. I'm Joanna Penn. And this is episode number 515 of the podcast. And it Saturday the 7th of November 2020 as I record this.
0:42.2	So today I'm talking to Dan Parsons about networking for authors, how to make friends, sell more books and grow a publishing network from scratch.
0:51.5	And of course we talk about online networking as well as in person because, yes,
0:56.3	we're locked down again in the UK and most of us are not networking in person at the moment,
1:01.0	but the world will change eventually. And personally, I'm looking forward to networking in person
1:06.3	again. I never thought I'd say that, but I am. So we give lots of thoughts and tips on networking.
1:11.9	And I wanted to reiterate the importance of the long-term mindset when it comes to networking,
1:17.8	or in fact, everything about the author life. I think if you have a long-term mindset,
1:24.0	so much becomes easier. That's probably true of the pandemic and everything. In fact,
1:30.6	long-term mindset really helps. And for networking, it is important because making friends and contacts
1:35.8	at your level, whatever that is, trust me, over time, people who are just starting out,
1:41.5	eventually they are not just starting out. They're a decade in and you're a
1:44.5	decade in and you're both and you're all in different places. Yeah, I really enjoyed this chat with Dan and
1:50.5	it's less of an interview more of a discussion. We both share our tips. So I definitely enjoyed it.
1:56.3	And of course, I'm an introvert. So even if you think, oh my goodness, I'm never going to do
2:00.5	networking in inverted commas, I still have a listen, so even if you think, oh my goodness, I'm never going to do networking
