Thank you, Doug. It's great to have you. It's even more special for me. I want to open with a

quick story. I told you this the night we first met for the listeners. Nelson and I have known

each other a long time and her friends, I consider him a mentor and the last book that I read before I wrote

my first book was your novel to Gold Coast and I was on vacation with my wife Megan in

2008 and when I put it down I thought to myself I want to write books that make

people feel the way this book made me feel.

And on the flight home, I started what turned out to be my first novel.

And I was, you know, I tinkered with writing, but was not not serious about it until then.

Fast forward a few years.

And my book is out and it's doing pretty well. And I get a phone call from some woman saying, I help organize this book fair that Nelson DeMille puts on every year at the Union League Club in New York City. And we read your book. We loved it. We'd like you to attend. And I thought, my God, you know, it all started with Nelson DeMille. And it's now come full circle. Yeah, you know, when I first

started writing, I had a mentor. I was lucky to have a mentor too, and it's good to have one.
