It's been about three weeks, I guess, since we were last in our study through Nehemiah.

This is a great book, a great teaching and lesson about leadership, godly leadership,

and the person of Nehemiah, an amazing man, greatly used of God.

He has just been used miraculously in the rebuilding of the wall and with it the gates

surrounding the city and the newly restored temple.

And it was in every sense of the word a miracle because they were able to do it

in only 52 days and they did so with just tremendous opposition and adversity and attack from their

enemies namely send ballot and tobaya but god and attack from their enemies, namely Send Ballot and Tobiah, but God, in spite of it all,

was able to get this great work done. And so now we pick it up here in chapter 9,

and everything is done. Worship has been restored in the temple there's been a

great move of god a great renewing of the hearts and minds on the part of the people of god and now

what we're about to see is a revival.

I mean in every way, a revival on the part of God's people

as they draw near to God and he in turn draws near to them.

And it's really quite a profound account that is before us tonight.

So let's jump in verse one. Now on the 24th day of this month,

the children of Israel were assembled with fasting in sackcloth and with dust on their heads.

Then, verse two, those of Israelite lineage separated themselves from all foreigners, and they stood and,

interesting, confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers. Let me just parenthetically and

quickly say this in no way suggests that there is such a thing known as generational sins.

The sins of the father are not to be confessed or paid for by the children.

This is not, this is something we've talked about at great length in the past, especially when we were in Exodus, and also I think in Deuteronomy, we revisited it.
