Pop Bear, I'm kind of old school when it comes to navigation.

I'm in my 50s and I was raised by my father to use a map and a compass in the woods.

However, a lot has changed since then.

We have GPSs and now anything you need to help you navigate can be found just on your phone.

I struggle with this.

I did not want to give up my map and compass, but 10 years ago I relented and

bought a GPS.

I still have my map and compass with me on every hike, but I've become accustomed to

using the GPS.

And now I'm finding myself using cell phone apps, which again are just so convenient, so

much easier to use than the map and compass.

I certainly don't want to throw away the skills of using a map and compass, but I feel

like I'm just not using them anymore.

And if we all start going with technology, these skills are going to become forgotten
