Summary

What do we do with ourselves when our kids need less of our minute to minute attention? How do we fill the space given to us when kids go to preschool or elementary school?  If we aren’t intentional as we step into this next phase of motherhood it can become a place of confusion or lost identity. As we focus on different Ages & Stages of our children’s development during this series we are taking an aside this week to parent ourselves if you will.

My guest this week, Kara Trochta, has a special place in her heart for the moms in the middle - whose children aren’t all launched into adulthood but who aren’t asking for their juice boxes to be opened 1675 times a day anymore. Through her own journey of soul searching and learning to dream again she has created a program to walk moms through this process of realigning who you are and where you are headed.

Hey y'all, welcome back to the Dilt Lone Lone podcast. I'm your host Heather McFadian and

0:12.0

this is the place where I get to walk alongside you and encourage you and remind you that you

0:18.0

don't mom alone. And in this episode, number 379, I am introducing you to a new friend of mine,

0:26.5

Kara Trocda. And we're at a point where we get to start to explore that. These moms who are in

0:33.1

middle, middle, motherhood a lot of times, what ends up happening, like to your point, they don't really

0:38.5

feel like they have this purpose. The kids aren't at home, they don't know what to do, they tend to get stuck

0:43.6

in a lot of the sheds. I should be doing this, like I should be working out, I should be, you know,

0:49.2

going back to work, just kind of all the sheds. And so that really like keeps them stuck in like

0:55.2

not having any clarity or vision for the future. We are taking a little aside from our ages and

1:01.8

stages series talking about our children's development to focus in on a stage for moms. A stage that

1:08.4

might guess this week, Kara has coined middle motherhood. So what is middle motherhood? Will she

1:14.5

defines it as this place between when our children aren't launched into adulthood, but they're no

1:19.4

longer maybe asking for their juice boxes to be open, 1600 and 75 times a day anymore. And I

1:26.0

know every mom's journey is unique. Perhaps your children have always been in daycare and you have

1:31.1

been working outside the home. Perhaps you have chosen not to send them to school and they are

1:35.5

home with you all day. There is still a season in our lives of middle motherhood where we have maybe

1:42.1

forgotten to dream for ourselves to figure out who got made us to be and to focus in and real

1:49.6

line that with where we're headed. And so Kara's goal is to coach moms in this middle season.

1:56.6

And practically to even figure out how do you spend your days? How do you spend your time? And

2:01.2

where do you fall on that priority list? We're going to get to all that today. I'm super excited

2:05.9

about it. Let's get right to it. Here we go. Kara, welcome to the Don't Mom alone podcast.

2:13.0

Hey Heather, thank so much for having me here. I'm so excited to be a guest and talk with you.
