it's not a common question but occasionally people say or ask.

What do I do? I've suffered an injury. I just don't know if I can hike the miles I used to hike.

Getting outdoors has become a little bit more difficult.

Well, some people will tell you that getting outdoors, getting back into those activities,

is therapeutic. Today to help inspire people that maybe feel like they have to

have to overcome something to get back out there and enjoy the outdoors is

Sarah, let's start out by telling us a little bit about yourself.

You were into the outdoors before this, but then you had an injury.

And on October 18th in 2018 I was coming home from work and the road that I was on

it's a very busy one, big bend in South County, St. Louis.

I went head on into a left-hand turn into another driver.

The seatbelt came undone and I hit the windshield at 50 miles per hour.

I crushed the vertebrae and discs and everything in my neck.

I had a split open head, boxer breaks, hairline fractures

throughout my back. It was just, you know, I had surgery. I really don't

remember a good six months of it. But my husband kept telling me throughout at all, you know, you can get better and you can go hiking again.

Because everything in my life evolved around those pictures and those moments with my children at the bottom of waterfalls or at the top of a mountain and

I didn't see life as being even worth it if I couldn't be out there and I couldn't enjoy everything
